The name XO TopShelf came from the ambition to be the best at whatever he sets his mind to. Similar to the way the best liquors are always on the top shelf of the bar. Hailing from Decatur, Georgia, XO TopShelf started rapping after searching for producers that inspired him. After rapping for a while, XO TopShelf put the pen down and transition into a producer, envisioning his passion of music into a production company called Smokehouse Entertainment. Using music as a therapy, when creating, helps the producer feel as though he is in a time machine and can travel to any particular time and place, allowing him to paint a crystal clear picture with sounds. The music XO creates provides listeners with a certain feeling and not just an empty tune. One of XO TopShelf’s music idols is Dr Dre, he admires the way that Dr Dre built his empire and envisions himself achieving the same heights during his career. Also admiring the sounds of producers such as Mike Will and DJ Mustard. XO TopShelf has had the opportunity to work with artist from the likes of Khujo Goodie of Goodie Mob, Sean Paul of Youngbloodz and the late Cutty Cartel of Jim Crow, this eventually lead to a worldwide tour with Sean Paul as an artist on his newly established label Cornerstore Entertainment.
